FRISO Files vs Google Drive, WeTransfer and Dropbox

Google Drive and Dropbox are general cloud drives with more free space and sync apps, and WeTransfer sends a big file by link. FRISO Files is made for creative work: folders tied to the project, versions, previews and, on Pro, a link where the client comments at a point and approves. A drive for backups, a transfer for one-off sends, FRISO for the work and the client.

How to choose

Choose Google Drive, WeTransfer or Dropbox if

  • You need a lot of free space: Google gives 15 GB, shared with Gmail and Photos, and Dropbox gives 2 GB.
  • You want a desktop app that keeps folders in sync on your computer.
  • You only need to send a big file once, and the link does not need to stay: WeTransfer sends up to 10 transfers or 3 GB every 30 days for free.
  • Most of your files are office documents, spreadsheets and backups.

Choose FRISO if

  • Your files belong to projects and brands, and you want them next to the brief, the references and the tasks.
  • The client needs to see the piece, comment on the exact point or second and approve, with no account.
  • You want proof of what was approved: a PDF receipt with the file, the version, who approved and when.

Using both

They also work together. Keep the raw backups in a drive, use a transfer for a one-off send, and keep what belongs to a job, and what goes to the client, in FRISO.

Questions

What is the best Google Drive alternative for creatives?

For the work itself, a drive tied to the project. FRISO Files keeps folders next to the brief and the tasks, keeps versions, and on Pro sends the client a link to comment and approve. For raw backups, a big drive is still cheaper.

How do I organize heavy video files for clients?

Keep one folder per project, send new versions on top of the old ones, and share a link where the client watches a light preview and comments on the second. On FRISO Pro there is no limit per file.

Is FRISO a free file transfer like WeTransfer?

No. The free plan has 500 MB, with up to 10 MB per photo and 50 MB per video, and sending folders for approval is on Pro. FRISO is where the work lives, not a one-off transfer.
